Buying a Cell Phone for your Actual Needs

Got to Have the Next Cell Phone Deal? Slow Down!

Perhaps it’s the cell phone manufacturers who kind of encourage this way of thinking but you go out buying a cell phone, and usually, you just think about getting cramming as many whizbang features into your budget as possible.
You really should think about – Is this phone right for me? Before you actually choose the model of phone you want, of course, you need to make your mind up about the carrier you will go with. If you’re already tied to a carrier through a contract, you may have to think about terminating the contract or continuing with them and just changing your phone.
But assuming that you are free to go with any carrier, you need to make your mind up about which one. And about whether you want to go prepaid or with a contract.
Prepaid really rocks these days and you can get a full unlimited plan for $50 or so with T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile.
And on top of that, you don’t even have a contract. If you should be unhappy with your phone service, you can drop it at a moment?s notice. In fact, you can even buy an unlocked iPhone from Apple for about $600 and use that on T-Mobile.Here’s a great way to see how just going for the latest and greatest in features can backfire: the best in cell phone data technology today is called 4G.
A no-name phone like the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G has it. Apple’s iPhone 4S does not. Which is the better phone? Lots of phones come with great feature sets these days.
For instance, the HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon is an excellent 4G phone with a great camera, an actual kickstand that lets you watch videos on it like it was a TV, a high-quality touchscreen gives you the works.
They pack so much into it, that if you actually try to use those features, you drain the battery in no time. What use would such a phone be?All of this assumes of course that you’re buying a smartphone.
There really is no reason why you shouldn’t. Buy the iPhone 3GS from AT&T, and the phone is actually free with a two-year contract. Lots of other great phones are only a few dollars. If you are going to be accepting a phone contract, a smartphone would be a no-brainer today.
If you’re telling yourself that you’re not the kind of person who wants a camera and all that whizbang nonsense, think again. A good smartphone today can actually save you lots of money.
Install an app like RedLaser, and when you go shopping, it’ll read every barcode for you and tell you if there is a store nearby or an online store that sells it cheaper. A smartphone can pay for itself. But, if you are like me and a bit short on cash – an Amazon Kindle might just be the ticket with the discounts they are offering. You decide and be happy with your purchase!
